glazing technique advise sought

I'm glazing tall vessels forms. I usually glaze the inside first then the
outside. Often the glaze cracks on the surface & flakes off before it dries,
if I'm really quick I can rub the glaze burnishing the edges & healing the
cracks but I'd rather avoid the cracking all together. Should I wait over
night or longer before glazing the outside? Should I add something to the
glaze to make it sticky? Any advise based on actual experience welcome

I always let the pot dry over night and before glazing the out side. If you
don't you will not get the same thickness of glaze. Chris

Dear Joy, Sure sounds like a glaze with a high clay content: is there a
lot of EPK or ball clay in the recipe? If so, try calcining (bisquing)
25-50% of the clay portion, before you add it to the dry mix, to reduce
the "mud-cracking" in the wet, raw, glaze. Good luck!
