Hi!
I started to work lately with these two claybodies. I would like to hear any
advise about them.
Also if you may, give me pages of your sites where I can see works with the
Laguna WC-871 CALICO and WC-881 RED CALICO
Thanks

Ababi,
My experience with these clays is the gray (871) is very easy to throw,
somewhat plastic, has an open body, can be fired fairly fast. Because of
the open body fairly thick sections are possible to dry and fire. It either
has a lot of grog or sand, so you can throw fairly large with it. It will
tend to wear your finger tips away!
You may want to check the absorbance at cone 5. The way I fire, I had to
fire to cone 6 to get the body vitrified enough so pitchers and vases would
not lose moisture out the bottom.
In my experience, a glaze with a calculated expansion value of about 6.5
x 10-6 cm/cm/degree C should fit on this clay body. In other words, it's
not a high expansion clay, and many common glaze recipes will craze on this
body.
The Red Calico is not, in my experience, as pleasant to throw. It has a
much narrower window where the moisture is right for throwing. It can
easily be to firm to throw easily, or too soft to work with. It seems to
have lower expansion than the 871, but I haven't worked with it enough to be
more specific.
I hope this is helpful!
