"On the Wheel With Nils Lou" is truly an INSPIRATIONAL set of three video
tapes !
Useful instruction !
Verbalized well !
Nils makes pot after pot.....each one with a different purpose of
instruction.....upside down throwing....adding thrown pieces to each
other....adding extruded parts to thrown pots...making a teapot...square
plates...rolling over the lip.....centering large amounts of clay.....I
could go on and on !
His graceful use of tools (from slip trailing brushes to Subway sandwich
napkins) compels me to try new treatments. His willingness to admit that he
goofed (once )gives me the confidence to press onward.
This set is a MUST for every college/University campus library ! I'm
more than pleased to have it in my personal video library here, on Hog Chain
Road in Mississippi. I'm going to watch it every time I feel a slump coming
on : )
I bought this set because I am having trouble verbalizing hand actions
that I have done for years to students who want to learn how to throw. I
thought that I would loan out the tapes and let Nils teach them : ) Now, I
believe that my class will watch the tapes with me at my home. So much can
be learned by all !
Thanks, Nils !

I finally met Nils at NCECA. What a neat guy. Howard Axner rented a suite
over in the tower of the Adam's Mark, and I just happened to wander in as
Nils gave an impromptu throwing demonstration.
I was most impressed with his 1-1/2 minute square plate, I would suppose his
tapes would be interesting. This encounter was my first chance to meet Mel.
Great, now instead of occassionally looking over the archives, I get all of
this everyday! Great info and inspiration! Thanks to you all!
