I'm about to mix up and try several of the cone 6 purples discussed in the
last 6 months & listed in the archives. Big thanks to whomever put the
archives in such an easy to read format. Although I fire around cone 7-8
I'll gladly share results. Meanwhile has anyone else tried them & what
results?
Joy in Tucson putting in a new gas line clear across my property.$$$$$$
Anyone want to buy a lizard mug, a rock box, send me a sympathy card?

I've used the Eggplant ^6 and its a reliable mat but not terribly interesting.
Someone once mentioned it worked well either over or under Burgundy.

Hi Joy....and big thanks to the person who posted the ^6 Purple Glaze.
We've been using it with some neat results since I gleaned it from Clayart a
few months ago. Here are some glazes that work quite nicely poured over the
purple. Oxidation.
Purple ^6
Custer spar 37
Gerstley Borate 12
Dolomite 6
Talc 14
EPK 5
Silica 23
Zinc Oxide 3
Cobalt Carb 3
Bentonite 2
a true purple at ^6, more blue at ^7 and ^8
Sea Blue ^6-7
Colemanite 15.65
Lithium 6.96
Potspar 42.61
EPK 13.04
Flint 21.74
Zinc 20.89
Nickle Ox 1.3
Oil Spot Green/Blue ^6
3134 50
EPK 40
Silica 20
Cobalt Carb 3
Rutile 5
LA Mot ^6 John Britt via Susan @ Ceramics Canada, Calgary
Custer 41.75
Wollastonite 17.48 (originally calls for Calcium Carb)
EPK 15.53
Zinc 6.8
Flint 18.45
Rutile 5.82
this is a warm yellow and a nice surface at ^6.....some pinholing with a
fast firing
Joy, this works nicely over ^6 Purple fired to ^8 or 9 (not so nice at ^6)
Have fun....and I'd love to buy a lizard cup!
Lee in Golden B.C. ...about to pour another cup of coffee into my
stay-at-home-mug exchange mug that I got yesterday in the mail from Theresa
in Tennessee.....delighted!
