blank firing - smokefest 2000 (addition)

Hello again :)

I have a new information that may be helpful and leads me to believe the
vent may not be entirely the issue if it is at all. BTW, the vent does
draw air; when I put a piece of straw in front of the intake hole, it is
drawn in. Is it enough? ... I don't know how one gauges straws pull in a
kiln by a vent :) The bisque firing will probably clue me in on that one
if I survive it ;)

The smoke which escaped the grasp of the vent left black marks on the lid
and rim from where it escaped. It occurred to me that it was not coming
from the inside, but from between the wall and the fiber blanket around it;
it's a double wall ConeArt kiln, which I omitted to mention in the previous
post. I suppose I shouldn't expect the vent to pick that up since it never
made it _in_ the kiln chamber to begin with.

It sounds reasonable. Could anyone confirm this?

TIA,

Faye
