plywood sawdust for pitfire?

hi!

i've got the pit fire bug and access to ALOT
of sawdust that comes soley from plywood.
i've just ordered my "sawdust firing" book by karin
hessenberg but can't wait till it comes in!
i know pressure treated wood should never be used, but
can anyone give any insight/advice on using only plywood
sawdust? my concern is the glue or whatever is used
to hold the plywood together having an undesirable
effect in such a firing. also, i want to fire for
flashing and color not just smoked black pots (if
that makes any difference...).

thanks!
lauren

Lauren,
I would be VERY concerned about the glue fumes in such a slow firing. I
believe the glue (the name of which escapes me for now)can give off quite
toxic fumes. Others may have better information.

Hi Lauren

I agree that using plywood sawdust might be dangerous. From the workers at
several of the lmber yards near by, they have indicated to me the reason the
public cannot cut their own plywood, nor will they make more than 1 cut for
them is because of the glue in the plywood. I believe OSHA has passed the
saftey rule on and is enforcing it rather strongly ( at least here in
Denver ). They also will not cut particle board or anythinf else that has a
glue bond.
