If you find the wedging table too high (as us vertically challenged
frequently do), try standing on a brick or a concrete block or a small
stool. This takes a lot of strain off your wrists. I find that my perfect
height is where I can place my hands palm down on the surface and lean
forward without having to stand on tip-toes - about kitchen table height.
I built a wedging table out of scrap 2x4's and heavy "roof decking" plywood.
I was going to replace the plywood with poured plaster later, but I love the
wood now! I just clean it with a sponge between porcelain & red stoneware
and have no problems with color contamination. It also serves as a useful
landing surface for those pots that I should have left to cool further!
