The Minnesota Crafts Council (MCC) will again co-sponsor internationally
renowned clay artist Svend Bayer, this time for a 10-day kiln building
and firing workshop in New London, MN, June 2 - 11, 2000. This rare
opportunity will allow workshop participants to contribute first-hand to
the construction of a 30=92 - 40=92 multi-chambered climbing wood kiln.
Svend Bayer, a professional potter for 30 years who has built numerous
kilns, will guide participants in all aspects involved.

In addition there will be throwing demonstrations by artists leading the
worshop when time allows. Studio space will be available for
participants to practice throwing techniques during rest periods. All
participants will receive copies of the workshop documents: diagrams,
sketches, materials lists, participant lists, slip and glaze recipes=3B
and are encouraged to include work in the first firing.

Weekend-only options are available for those with a limited schedule.
All workshops will take place at the Banner Oak Pottery Education
Center, 326 Main Street, New London, MN. Lodging is available in nearby
Spencer, or camping at Sibley State Park. For more information or to
