wood kiln shed ok?

I am building a kiln shed to cover a small gas kiln. The shed has wood
supports for the tin (and wood roof). As long as the chimney safely
clears the roof, is there any danger if the wood is a couple of feet
from the kiln? It has 10 inches of firebrick, so I cannot imagine
igniting the wood, but is this crazy? Thanks for any help that anyone
can offer. Dan Getman

Well Dan, I've caught 2 kiln sheds on fire, one with a gas
kiln and one with a wood kiln.
It's happened to lots of other potters also.
Wood that is heated time and time again, over years,
can look normal but actually be more prone to catching
on fire.
I've learned my lesson; my new kiln shed is 100% steel.
With the high price of lumber, and the longer spans that
a steel frame can span, it doesn't cost that much more
for that extra margin of safety.

Dan,
Wood at that distance from the kiln is fine. I'm presuming it will have
minimal walls and plenty of ventilation. Never the less I would make sure
that a fire hose is available close by. I've done this with my STEEL shed.
