Philosophy and techniques of making functional ceramics from porcelain
clay"

This workshop will cover primarily claywork and construction methods of
making teapots and serving dishes from porcelain using wheel thrown and
altered parts. The Pottery making will be part of a two day learning
process using slides and finished pottery to illustrate the major issues and
techniques. The second day will touch on decorating and glazing methods and
we will see how personal ideas and vocabulary can translate into lifetime
investigation.

Richard Hensley has been a professional potter since 1974 and maintains his
studio and workshop in Floyd, Virginia.
