Hi Don!

I'm assuming you are using a glaze? If so, here's what I do: mix the copper
bits into a thick (less water than usual) glaze mixture, and apply over damp
bisqueware. Most of the metal will stay on the piece, but be careful not to
knock any off when you load the kiln. Be especially wary of loose metal when
loading an electric kiln--accidental metal droppings can possibly "short out"
your kiln elements.

To get a metallic effect without using a glaze, simply press the metal into
the clay body, before or while forming into pots. Bisque fire as normal. This
will produce speckled bisqueware. The metal will melt upon high-firing, so
have drip protection in the kiln, under the wares.

I wish you the best!
