I hope someone can help.
The pots I am making are a pair of bottles. I want to be able to fuse =
sterling
silver chains onto them - just the kind you buy in jeweller's shops. I want =
them
to retain their chain like nature but to belong to the pot by being at least
slightly melted on to it.

Can I do it?
Do I just put a chain arounnd the neck of the glazed pot and fire to melting
point of silver? Will it just 'blob' or just 'run off the pot=22?

Same thing for copper wire. I know it you put it on the pot and fire to =
about
750 it does something magical and alchemical and leaves marks on the pot.

But I want the copper wire just to melt on top of the pot. Can I do it? If =
so
HOW

Details:
Electric kiln
POts previously glazed to =5E6 or more, depending on the glaze.

I know I should just try it - but silver isn't cheap.......

Help=21

Using
Joyce Lee's wonderful Mojave style - hope there's no copyright on that.

Hello Joan, Just a thought. You may wish to contact Mile High Ceramics in
Denver or perhaps a local dealer about Art Silver Clay. Although, I didn't
see the demo's during NCECA, I gather that this product can be formed into
virtually any shape you wish, i.e. loops for a chain. I think it would
definitely be worth a look. This product which appears as a clay-like
product fires to 99% pure silver. I believe it comes in a paste, clay, or
loaded in a syringe form. They also have gold. Good luck, and hopefully
you can report your results later. Tom Eastburn

Joan,
If you want blobs - then go the the melting point of the silver. I f you
want to retain the chain effect, try dipping the chain in a low fire
clear glaze and then fire to the temp of the low fire clear glaze. this
should adhear it to the glaze beneath it.Mike

Get ready to dig deep to pay for it. We priced it at Ceramics King and
it was too expensive to even buy a wee sample !
