Results on purple tests:
As the kiln's pyrometer (SP) stalled out at 11:00 and I over fired my
results may not be particularly useful to others but meet my needs. What an
adventure mixing 7 glazes at once. Additionally I added the same oxides from
each glaze to some old tan glaze I had hanging out and came up with a few
nice results.
I fired with a neutral atmosphere in a gas updraft kiln.
I placed test tiles on the floor, matured at cone 6-7
and on the 2nd from top shelf matured at cone 8-9
Glazes recipes are listed in the Archives.

Cone 6
color Purple
date 12/7/96
Great medium purple, opaque, Simi gloss, with deep pink on the surface at
both cone ranges. Blue where thin. The swish of cobalt on the surface
disappeared.
Oxides added to Scrap tan glaze made a nice opaque med. blue.

Kemp 17
cone 6-7
1/26/95
Tan glaze body with oxblood red where thick, speckled, broke nicely over
throwing ridges, no where near purple, but a very nice glaze at both cone
ranges. Slash of surface cobalt stayed blue. Clear where thin.
Oxides added to Scrap tan glaze gave a tan -pink where thick. Turned swish
of cobalt green.

Purple cone 6
I don't have the date submitted but this glaze is described as "a true
purple at cone 6, more blue at cone 7 and cone 8.
I had the best luck with this glaze a true deep purple at both cone 6 and 8,
didn't turn blue for me at higher temps but is blue when applied thin. Swish
of cobalt disappeared. Deep blue where thin.

Both Eggplant purple glazes were great. (One uses soda feldspar I used FSJ
200, and the other recommends Kona F-4 I used G. 200 K feldspar)
Both glazes show a navy background with purple & pink speckles. Blue where
thin.
Swish of cobalt disappeared.
Oxides added to Scrap tan glaze gave milky green-kaki semi matt

Brilliant Matt Purple
Green at cone 6
Gem stone Green, breaks purple and turquoise at cone 8 stony surface. Swish
of cobalt stayed blue. Deep brown where thin.
Oxides added to Scrap tan glaze gave dk kaki green

Coleman's Purple
Cone 10
Strong opaque flat turquoise. Cobalt swish stayed blue
Oxides added to Scrap tan glaze gave med. kaki green, with pink blushes simi
mat cobalt swish disappeared. Breaks of clear when thin.

K-9
cone 10
Mottled green opaque simi gloss cobalt swish is green or disappears.
Oxides added to Scrap tan glaze gave nice green matt kaki.
Golden tan when thin.

I had good luck finding purples with the recipes that used cobalt carb or
oxide.
Although I have a few more to test, big thanks to everyone who mailed me
recipes,
I have what I need and then some for now.
Disclaimer, it's difficult to predict what WILL happen in someone else's
kiln, oxidation, electric, gas, propane, the variables boggle the mind but
perhaps my tests might give others a launching point for their own
explorations.
