generic (less expensive) kickwheel motors

Hello Clayarters!

I was wondering if there was a generic motorized kickwheel kit that
you could use on a Model K Lockerbie kickwheel. I looked at the add-on
motor for the lockerbie model and it is 1/3 horsepower and $300 and some odd
dollars. Grrr...
Any help on do-it-yourself instructions or other cheaper shortcuts
would be appreciated!

Thanks,
John Christensen

John, how generic (cheap) do you want to go?
Assuming you are a somewhat handy guy:
get a washing machine motor at the junkyard.
Buy a couple of U-bolts at the hardware store,
along with a switch, a hinge, and some wire,
and design your own set-up.
Or just study the 'official' design, and copy it.
If you can't find the rubber drive wheel, call up
Lockerbie and ask them to send you a replacement.
Maybe $25 for the shebang.
