Sounds like the glaze has been etched and dissolved by the alkali in the
dishwashing liquid Jean. It is likely that this glaze is just not stable in
this environment. Don't be too concerned, I've seen commercial dinnerware
by reputable factories lose their gloss in dishwashers. Stick to manual
dishwashing if you value nice pieces...
