musing in maine

Clayarters: Moved to Mooseville (that would be Maine) a month ago. Have not
touched clay for close to two months, and I am getting antsy.

Yesterday was a beautiful day here in Mooseville, better known as Bolster's
Mills, a tiny village in southwestern Maine. Thought I would drag the old
homemade wheel I bought myself at Christmas out onto the deck, run an
extension cord, and throw. So I can't fire it, so what. This is about soul,
at this point, not product.

Then I remembered I had no wedging board (my life in clay to this point has
been learning in and then managing a fairly well-equipped community
pottery). And my husband does not like me using kitchen equipment for
claywork. So, out and about, I ventured into a junk shop and found a lovely
slab of marble that the junk guy sold me for $10. And he loaded iit n my
car, which made it surely worth the 10 bucks.

Now, though, I am faced with a real problem. In the barn is junk that our
horrible, house-wrecking renters left. Also in the barn is some of our junk,
collected over a lifetime. In the barn is my wheel. Also in the barn, at the
very front of the barn, is Roseanne, grouchy and overly strong potbellied
pig, who is still so terrified about the change in her life that she simply
will not move.

I will find a way around all of this. Just thought I'd share.

I,ve been wanting to get one of those pigs. How are they with other
animals? Is it safe to let them be outside by themselves?
