nc, sc, ga, tn potters -- help!

Calling all potters within a day's drive of Charlotte, NC!

I'm working on organizing an Empty Bowls event to be held in
conjunction with next year's NCECA in Charlotte. We're tentatively
calling it, "Just One Bowl", and we're going to try to get, you
guessed it, "just one bowl" donated by as many potters from the
multi-state region around Charlotte as possible, in addition to bowls
we hope will be brought by NCECA conference-goers.

We're hoping to make this a big event, with food and a location to
be provided by the Charlotte area Food Bank, and bowls to be
provided by a multitude of potters. Let's be grandiose and say, a
thousand bowls from a thousand potters! Wouldn't that be a grand
sight?

What I need right now are contact names for local potters groups,
guilds, clay suppliers, community centers with clay programs,
college clay programs -- anyone who might be willing to help
spread the word to potters in their area and/or serve as a collection
point for bowls when the time comes.

Please send any info to me directly at

Thanks for your help!!

Chris-
Have you spoken with the food bank people yet about NCECA? Probably a good
place to start. You might also post our website on your next posting:

People can get a better understanding of the project. Keep me posted.

Hey....let's not forget Virginia potters!!!
I am in Charlottesville and about 5 hours from Charlotte.......would love to
help with this event......and I am sure a lot of other VA potters would be
willing to help.
Beth in ...you guessed it...Virginia!! :)

My apologies to Virginia potters. I was just trying not to be toooo
grandiose! Let me make it clear -- absolutely anyone is welcome
to donate a bowl to this event, if you can find a way to get it there --
either bring it yourself, ship it, or get someone else to bring it. If
you collect bowls from your local potters, I will even drive halfway to
meet you if necessary! The more the merrier!

Chris,
Would you please post your request again? If it is an Empty Bowls event, I
would be interested in shipping a bowl. That is assuming that I would have
enough time to make one. Sorry I overlooked your first request. I'm in
Michigan, so I deleted without reading.
