clips for photo finding parts

My way of finding some of the parts of something I have seen on the market
is to call the manufacturer of the product, and see if you can back tract
the part. They frequently get it from someone else. Sometimes you need to
come across as a manufacturer ( which we in essence are) to get their
attention. They are not as fond of dealing with the small hobby folks. One
of the parts I wanted was imported from Italy in 100 gross lots ( a tad more
than I needed) but the US manufacturer, of the canister not the part,
offered to sell me a smaller amount so I could try
them. It will also help to find the name they are called in the industry so
you can web search them. Generally there are more than one company that
makes the item, and eventually you get a lead. Found great spigots for water
jugs that way.
There are also catalogues that manufacturers order from I believe some
college libraries have. I also vaigley remember Thompsons manufacturing
supplies having a web site. ( think that is the name?) Check with a framer
in the area they may have a catalogue that sells the frame,so you can
backtrack or order
the part. I usually don't bother calling the overseas places since I am not
bilingual, but the company might have a web site.
If this is something you may want to sell as well, there seems to be a
3 tier pricing system for some items. Retail, wholesale and industrial
wholesale which is the cheapest and should apply to potters since they sell
their product at wholesale to some one that retails it. I found this out by
accident when researching part prices for something I may still patent.
Good luck let me know how it goes

Subject: clips for photo display

----------------------------Original message----------------------------
Perhaps somebody has cracked this nut for me. I am finally girded up to
deal with all the years of photos I want to display. I don't like frames,
even if I could afford them, and want to invent my own system of clipping
together a piece of (cheap) 1/8" glass which I can cut from large sheets,
the photo, and a piece of mat board, 2 clips to a side, 8 per photo, and
then connect them at the back with a piece of wire that would support it on
the wall.

Clear plastic appeals but metal would be good if it was small enough. I
know the systems they sell have these little metal clips that secure into
a piece of masonite and have a hole for a wire. Very snazzy and it would
be nice to be able to buy just the little clips in quantity.

I had one catalog around, Outwater, and with the zillions of plastic bits
of this and that they don't seem to have anything I can imagine will do the
job. Checked Grainger and nothing small. Checked Dick Blick art catalog
and they have a bunch of systems they'll sell me but its way overkill and I
can't begin to afford any of it.

Spent all our $$ on new studio (not done yet but floor sure is nice and
warm) and need to do this on the super-cheap. Think it would be nice
before our kid goes off to college to be able to see a bit of her childhood
on the walls.
