Okay, so you get the fire hot, what about covering? Do you cover or not
for reds and oranges? And do you start a bed of coals underneath the
bottom layer of pots? More details please!

I use a cover with the saggar inside the a gas fired raku kiln. The saggar
is a trash can that has holes put in it with a blow torch thanks to Roger
Allen at the Chicken Farm!! Its filled with the pots and packed tight with
sawdust. A copper echant that came from a printer is poured over and through
the sawdust. Roger has suggested also fuming with a solution of nails
dissolved into acid. I plan to try this soon. It looks good on his pots.
Fire to red heat. Doing this will also burn off the soot left by the sawdust.
Good firing!!!
