Subject: Lead Bisilicate Safety

Last year to assist local potters I gathered all the test and other =
information
I could find
on glaze safety and particularly relating to Lead Glazes. The information =
comes
from
analysis of many opinions and test results from reliable sources. The notes =
were
published
in Australian Ceramics Technical No 8 1999 and also distributed by the
N.Z.Society of Potters.
They are 4 pages A4 of notes..too lengthy for posting here..but I am happy =
to
make the results
of my search available to all potters. If you are not able to locate a copy =
of
Ceramics Technical
No 8 I can post a copy of the notes on receipt of US =245 to cover post and
printing etc.
The additions likely to cause greatest instability in a L.Bisilicate Glaze =
are
of course Copper or
Cobalt among other substances. The notes also list various additions which =
test
to increase
the stability of the glaze.
