kiln lighting problem

I have a problem ke3eping my kiln lit!

I have 12 cu ft natural gas kiln that lights with a Basdso safety valve in
line to the ilot ring and the main burner valvae. I have had the kiln and
used it without unsolveable problems for ten years.
I light the kiln with in the next hour it goes out. This has happened on
two separate days with calm waeatrher conditions. I am certain the pilot
did not blow out. I cleaned the silver contact from the thermocouple to the
Basso and made sure the pilot light from the basso is lined up with the
thermocouple heat sensor. Still, the pilot light goes out. Any educated
guresses? or better yet, has anyone had and soved this problem before?

TIA

Donald, in a frustrated condition

Dont have experence with that kiln, however, if the thermocouple is ok and
the baso is ok, then the burners are not getting enough air to keep
burning. We have this problem with the burn out kiln for sculpture, and it
is always because someone has closed the damper way down and just try
running the piolits to hold a steady heat.

I had problems with my pilot ring, some of the holes got
dirty and
blocked the gas from getting out properly. Have you checked
that?

Donald,
Thermocouples do wear out. 10 years of constant use could do this. I think
it's your thermocouple given that the pilot is extinguished. It seems to
indicate the thermocouple is not able to hold the safety valve open.

Donald,

Most likely it is time for a new thermocouple...They don't last forever.

Donald - does your kiln have an electronic eye, and if so, have you checked
that it is secured tightly in place (as the kiln heats up, the screw holding
the eye in place can become loose and cause the eye to move). Also check
that nothing has fallen into the flame path inside the kiln which might
cause back pressure at the burners (any change in damper positions, blowers,
etc. which might cause too much back pressure?). I'm sure you've checked
for hairline cracks in the thermocouple when you cleaned the connection.
Just a few suggestions that come to mind - sincerely hoping you isolate the
problem.
Best,
