Not a kiln blanket, but extra insulation.
My firing before last only yeilded 800c instead of the 1250c I needed.
When we investigated the fault, we some of the connecting wires for the
elements had gotten so hot, that they burned in places. My husband had
recently put some insulation between the wires and the kiln outside metal
sheeting. It apparently did what it was meant to, but trapped too much heat
around the wires.
Not that a blanket would be so insulating, but this was more or less a =
caution
of
what to think about when insulating. It is of course obvious to some, but =
for
us
who have less kiln fixing experience, it was a lesson.

This glaze reached temp. and I am looking forward to
seeing all the test tiles. And maybe the easter hare got his
Blue this time.

Wrapping a kiln in a ceramic blanket would yield
negligible energy savings. I would be interested in
