Twice a year for several years there has been a collaborative firing of an
anagama kiln located at Chris Gustin's studio. This event involves much of
the local art community including UMASS Dartmouth, Museum School of Boston,
Radcliffe, RISD, Salve Regina, and various studio potters (I hope I haven't
left anyone out, if so my apologies). The firing and preparation is done by
the participants. Being involved becomes addictive, and there is enough work
to keep anyone that wants to participate busy.
Unlike previous firings, the work will be exhibited on Sunday April 30th
from 1-5 PM. The opening will be held at the Coop (Chris' studio). The goal
of this opening is to share the experience of a wood kiln with others, and
stir up interest within the community. Many of the artists will be present
during the opening. All are welcome.
The Coop is located at 231 Horseneck Rd, Dartmouth, Massachusetts.
>From Rt195 take the Faunce Corner exit 12 (marked UMASSD), go straight
through the intersection onto Old Westport Rd, at fork bear left (Chase Rd),
and follow to end. At end take a right onto Russell's Mills Rd, come to a
fork, and bear left onto Horseneck Rd. The Coop is about a mile and a half
on the right.
