I do not know where you are writing from. I have been on many a black sand
beaches,
that are black due to lava rock from a former or existing volcano in the =
region.
First comes
to mind Lazarote, Greece and Polynesia.
Again, I do not know where you are
but lava, is it called pumice? is (part) of black sand. I have found some
bigger chunks that
I set in the sides of black clay pots and they melted, making for fairly
exciting looking drips.
