yes paul, you are correct.
and the list of good throwers and countries that
produce them is long.
i can only tell people what i know, based on my experiences.
anything else is blather.
i did not work in korea, china, burma....i spent my time
in the uchida pottery, kyoto, japan....and that is the story
i tell....that is the true story that i know.
i have taught thousands of people to throw, and throw well.
that is the most important thing i do. i am very proud of that.
and my clothes are real...always cotton.
i can make no one talented or creative, but i can teach
technique and let people find their way. that is what
teachers do. many miss that part.
i have never worn the medals of my swimmers or divers.
those belong on their chests..only.
i gave them technique, they had the desire and talent.
same with the hundreds of potters that i have helped get
started.
