Hi Ron,
You wrote on CLAYART yesterday; "I sometimes imagine I am sending responses
to people who are no longer there." That gave me a guilty feeling. You
very kindly gave me some advice a few weeks back about how to fix your #3
black to cure pinholing. I haven't gotten around to doing what you advised
but I will. A belated thanks.
I'd like to add that I spent a few weeks last year reading all your posts
from the CLAYART archives. What an education I received! I printed out all
the complicated posts so I could study them until I understood. I now have a
whole notebook full. It was interesting as well as disconcerting when after
what seemed like years of "boron is included in unity for ^6", it fell from
grace.
Best regards, Carol

I have yet again recommended Tucker clay and glazes. FT turned
me on to them a few years back. I have experimented with a number
of clays made in this area and keep going back to old MCS ^6 porc.
The Mid Red ^6 is pretty awsome too when you want a rich colored
stoneware body. I am still getting acquainted with the Bright White.
I'm a total nut for grolleg china clay bodies. Must be the masochist
in me. And Bright White doesn't fight with me enough. Someone
removed the wiggle from the white witch. Would that be you Ron?
Tucker also has some new ^6 glazes which are really superior. I never
really liked other purchased mixes and usually end up amending them.
At that point I might as well make my own. I truly appreciate all the
expertice put into glaze making. It isn't always practical to make your
own in a home "studio". There are safety equipment and behaviors to
be addressed as well as space and time when trying to balance family
and business building issues. This has been an incredibly difficult year
for my family. The clay and the glazes have been a joyous part of it. I
want to thank you Ron for your part in making the lifelong dream of
starting my own studio a little bit easier.

If each claybud whom Ron Roy has helped with
clay problems sends in a "thank you" via the
list, we might post nothing but such thank you's
for a month. Please send your thanks to RR
directly. I know he'll read them and be appreciative.
That's the way he is for he is a modest man,
indeed.

My plan, however, is to only post a representative
thank you now&then on Clayart...... since that
is basically our policy anyway. =20

Besides thanking him privately, I'd like to publicly acknowledge on
Clayart the wonderful help Ron Roy has been in solving a glaze
problem for me. The talc I used in my number one glazes is no longer
being mined and the new talc changed the glaze significantly. Ron
took my recipe, altered it and solved the problem for me. The glaze
is now identical to the original. We are so lucky to have someone
like Ron on Clayart who is so willing to share his knowledge and
expertise.

Hi Kathy,

No one could have expressed it better. We are indeed very very fortunate to
have you, Ron, on Clayart.
