Clayarters:
I took a short photography class at Pine Ridge Pottery (Alexandria,
Virginia). After the instruction portion of the class, the teacher (Al
Hansen) coached each student shooting a few of their pieces in the Light
Box (Al built and designed this very clever box).

After the class, I used the light box (and Al's coaching) to shoot 30 of my
pieces - slides and prints. I had NEVER used a camera before (and I still
am not clear on the nuances of f-stop and shutter speed). But I was amazed
at the professional look of most of my shots, especially considering the
(cheap) camera I used. Another benefit of this class was that I saw things
about my work that I had never seen before.

Al is giving this quickie class again in May. I highly recommend taking
the class even if you have someone else shoot your work.
