I am looking for someone in the Nashville area who has a salt/soda kiln and
wouldn't mind me observing them fire their kiln. I can travel up to 3 or 4
hrs. from Nashville and would appreciate any help or technical advice you can
give. please contact me off the list. If anyone knows of any salt/soda kiln
building workshops in the south I'd love the info.

Cindy -
At the Appalachian Center for Crafts we have two gas salt-soda kilns, plus a
wood-salt kiln. We are about 45 miles northeast of you, but our spring
semester just ended, and there is not much firing going on for a while. I
am not sure if anyone will be doing any salt or soda firing through the
summer, but if you still want to observe in the fall, send me an email in
early September, and I will gladly let you know when we are firing.
Best wishes -
- Vince
