Vince, thanks for your comments, ... we may be onto another Myth, but Im not
sure. As a Cabnetmaker Apprentice (long ago and far away) I was told that
the repeated heating and cooling caused the damage after grinding soft
metals.
I went to Norton Abrasives web site and did find they specify Grey Aluminum
Oxide for grinding steel and Green Silicon Carbide ( Crystolon) for gringing
Non steel applications. their web site page withthe data is

warning about aluminum. I am only a year in Pottery but find many cross over
skills so far. Thanks to all in Clayart for your help.
