cleaning extruders, and pugmills...

Some people use a round wooden block that just fits inside the extruder,
remove the die, and extrude the whole business. That sounds relatively
simple compared to cleaning a pugmill... which I'm thinking I should do
each time I use it because I'm pugging white clay and the pugmill is an
older steel model prone to rust. I guess I could remove the pipe part, fit
it with a round block and hammer that through. But oh, the blades on the
shaft are something else! What does everyone else do? Lesley, fussing with
logistics and not getting anything made...
