I'm really getting into the wall plate dealy-bob, Dannon, thanks in part
to your encouragement. I think I know the answer to this, but you are
such an original I'm afraid I may be assuming too much. Just what do you
mean, please, by notching the foot? Just an upside down V, maybe.....?
And, if so, does that weaken the footring for adding the wire for
hanging? Or can one do both on the same plate? And, while I'm being
trite ... Nils.... are you there?....
is it okay to use Blimpie's napkins rather than Subway napkins when
slowing down air flow in a pot? Major discussion about this in my studio
at lunch yesterday ... of course, the swampcooler was broken and it was
110 F outside.... and we were probably breathing WD40 fumes from oiling
the extruder dies... (The rest of you..... if you wanna know about what
I speak, you'll have to buy or borrow Nils' tapes..)

Joyce
In the Mojave still chuckling occasionally from Sylvia's squealing
reaction when she came to hang out yesterday. ON the way in she stopped
(as almost everyone does) to examine the UglyPotSpot pots..... seeing
a pitcher gone wrong, she bent to examine it more closely, thinking, "I
didn't know Joyce was applying lizards to her pots... neat." Just then,
of course, the tiny lizard, which was perched on the handle, took off
.... Sylvia is easily startled, needless to say, and her squeals woke up
the sleeping #1 Support Person......just a teeny lizard......
scheez........

No, not a V-shape notch, Joyce; a flat-based U shape. I
just take my small trimming tool, square end, and cut
a notch flush with the bottom of the piece. Just a small
vacant space, square. I do this on
the OPPOSITE side from the drilled holes. I can't imagine
that the notch weakens the piece in any significant way.
I sponge it a bit just so there are no sharp edges. One
extra benefit seems to be that it permits a bit more
flexibility when firing. Cracked platters, no matter the size,
are very rare. Further, I like it esthetically - who
knows why.

Well Joyce, I'm totally inexperienced with Blimpie's napkins, so I can
only endorse Subway's after considerable research and several pounds
increase in weight. I urge you to use caution and test, test, test. Nils

mich less obnoxious for extruder lube. nl
