For those of you who are using or have used a venting system for your
electric kiln, could you answer a couple of question for me. Have looked in
archives under just about every post I could find which would be relevant
but did not find answer.
What differences did you discover after adding the venting system and what
corrective actions did you take to compensate? For instance - how much did
it prolong your firing schedule? Did you find you had to use venting system
in cycles to allow temp. rise to occur properly? What modifications to your
original vent system have you made, if any? What size is your fan and how
much gap have you left btwn kiln and hose apparatus?
Have just manufactured system using specs. given in archives (can't remember
who posted them). Since I didn't find a manual in the box anywhere (LOL) I
want to make sure my understanding of use is correct.

Tia,
I don't know if this will help. But here goes, My vent is a downdraft by
Orton, I followed specifications for the little holes in top and bottom of
kiln and just set my kiln on it. I keep it on from start until completely
cool and ready to open. The results were good with more uniform firing all
over. I also have a whole studio fan, no AC, that I run when hot, and just
have to open windows wider.
