Reid,

I would be cautious about adding any combustible material into a =
situation where it can contact any hot nitrate. Nitrates are strong =
oxidising agents and Silver nitrate is a particularly reactive one. It =
is so reactive that if it is mixed with magnesium powder and cold water =
dropped onto it, it will explode with considerable violence.

I have made resinate lustres using silver nitrate and they can flame =
spontaneously before the resin even begins to smoke. The Nitrogen =
dioxide fumes are and intense irritant.

My opinion, which you may wish to check with a qualified chemist, is =
that silver nitrate will be fully decomposed by the time you get to =
bisque temperature.

Please take care. I would caution against ever throwing any hot dusty =
burnable material into an enclosed hot space.=20
