outdoor sculpture/paper clay

I use paper clay for sculpture but currently not outdoors in Montana .
You have to fire paper clay a cone or two hotter than the normal
temperature of the clay you're using the paper in. The porrosity caused
by the burned out pulp raises the temperature needed to vitrfy the clay,
I love using paper clay for my sculptures because it makes them very
light weight and easy for my old body to lift around.
If you can, lower the temperature of your clay body. Add some talc (5%)
and a little feldspar
(5-10%). Do the boiling water test after the clay is fired to check its absorption.
You should be able to work it out.

Thanks Marcia,
Good tips. I'm new to this so it's going to be one of those learning curves
as far as the modifications to the body are concerned. Since I'm working
with smoke firing on these pieces as well I'm into some tight compromises.
See how it goes
Best wishes
