Hi Michael,
I just did a test with the Gerstley Borate replacement Murrays Borate,
available from Kickwheel Pottery Supply. I use the original Chappell's
recipe, substituting the Murrays Borate one-for-one with the GB. I added
2% bentonite, but no CMC and just used tap water, as always. It was only
one test tile, but it seemed to work quite well.
I'll be mixing up a larger batch and testing it on some actual pieces,
after which I'll be able to give a more extensive report.
