pacifica lubrication

I tried the silicone lubricant supplied by Pacifica and would never do that
again. I was easily able to stop the wheel with only 3 or 4 pounds of clay
on the wheel head. It took several months for the effects of lubricating
the belts (which are actually more like super monofiliment string trimmer
line) to go away. I am not sure any amount of noise could get me to repeat
the process. I would probably try any thing other than that. It seemed
VERT unsatisfactory to me.

I really like the wheel, just not the spray.

It sounds like you used too much lubricant. A light spray seems to do the trick for
me. Actually, I haven't used the spray in about a year now, with no ill results.
I really like my Pacifica 400, which I have had for 4 or 5 years now. I did have a
little trouble with the pedal which I fixed myself. There is a magnet attached to
the part you move with your foot, which came unglued. I used epoxy to put it back
in place. Yes, I notice a difference in speed between "pedal to the metal" and
taking my foot off the pedal when it is in the high position. This seems to be
worse in cold weather, and I suspect a problem with the dimensional stability of
the plastic the pedal is made of (just a guess.) But I really love how smooth the
wheel is at the lowest speed -and yet still powerful. Since I learned to center on
a kick wheel, the relatively low top end doesn't seem to bother me. (see the
"slowing down the process" theread of a few weeks ago ;^) )

In idyllic western Michigan, where the National Asparagus Festival has just wrapped
up and the garden is finally beginning to put on some growth!
