I'm just getting my computer up & running again after getting
back from the Appalachian Center for Crafts.

The workshop was great fun, the folks attending were a pleasure
to get to know. A public thank you to all of them for making
the workshop go so well.

For any of you who haven't had an opportunity to visit the Craft
Center - get there first chance that comes! What a facility!
Clay has the biggest space - two large workrooms plus kiln
room, glazing & mixing rooms, etc. Besides clay there's
fabric/weaving, glass, metals/blacksmithing, jewelry, woodworking- all with
large and really well-equipped spaces.
Studios open 24 hours,
dining hall, galleries, very pleasant living quarters. But
the setting is the knockout. The Craft Center is in the midst
of the mountains, nearly surrounded by Center Hill Lake & the
Caney Fork River. Hiking trails all over, trees to the sky -
well, you get the picture. It's an amazing place. Don't miss
it if you can.....

Dannon's right.

I just got back from the clay session with Patricia Hollingsworth, and
enjoyed every aspect of my visit to this beautiful location. The clay
rooms are immense! Patricia is a warm and helping person with a broad
knowledge of clay and many ideas for opening up to the medium suitable
for students at any level. Her personal emphasis is sculptural, as her
workshop title; "Sculptural Forms in Nature" indicates, but she is no
slouch at throwing!

Helen

(Who made a large slab teapot that Jason Briggs has kindly agreed to see
through the bisquing process so I can pick it up next visit I make to
the U.S. Thanks, Jason.)
