Dear Mel,
I finally finished the design for the raku kiln of my dream and retirement.
I am really happy with it and will build it starting manana. We will be
using it at a little clay fest of raku, paper kilns and pit firings in
Miles City Aug 11,12,13.
So what does retirement mean anyway.

we all agree with tony. he knows of what he speaks.
but, the big difference between us/he and i, he spends
his life making a living with clay and kilns, and i have spent
my life trying to learn all i can with clay....a teacher. it is
how i supported my family.

that stuff is in our blood streams.

the small flat top is as tried and true as we could
ever deliver. we have many of them, and they work.
i would trust the nils lou design any day, any place.

the small train is still in progress...that is kurt's baby.
we now have the wood to make it work...it will.

if we did not build new kilns, new ideas, use itc, help test
things that nils has thought up, well, we would still be
in the dark ages.
pouring booze on the kiln for good luck, lighting the hair
of virgins on fire for good luck....
crap on that. move forward.

kurt and i have been able to afford to build new things. not
afraid to spend a buck for research...same with nils.
we are proud of that.

we understand and respect that tony guy. he is the best.
listen to him. don't go off half cocked...a great deal of that
going on.

we won't stop trying new things, well, not until our bodies give out.
new kilns, like new glaze, new clay, give us new pots.
always searching....that is the teacher....never stop.

when kurt and i have no energy left...well, we have all those
potters at hay creek....they are young and hungry...they will
think up new things.

mel
retired, what does that mean?

Dear Mel:

Retired means that your investment income is more than your earned
