Vicki,
In most supplier catalogs like Mi-high or Seattle pottery, there are
codes next to each stain describing their maximum temperature, their
preference for zinc bases or not, their potential for being used as a
glaze colorant or clay body colorant. There are 9 reference codes which
detail the use of each stain. Some do only go to^04 some to ^10. There
are more and more colors so refering to these reference codes is
necessary. I usually post them on the wall and number each bag for fast
references in our classroom situation. Seattle Pottery catalog goes ven
farther with recommendations of % in glazes.
