In a recent post, I listed three saggar body recipes I had on file; a prior
search of the archives yeilded none. I have located two more, and they are
as follows:
BYRON TEMPLE SAGGAR BODY #1
(dense body)
Scrap stoneware clays 10 lbs. dry wt.
Soft brick dust 1 1/2 lbs. wt.
BYRON TEMPLE SAGGAR BODY #2
(loose body, difficult to throw)
By volume Fireclay 2 parts
Ball clay 1
Soft brick dust 1
Sawdust (damp) 2
Scrap stoneware 6
Saggars should be high fired prior to packing with pots.
