skutt 1027/moveing

Hi Linda'

I have the same set up. My skutt bisque kiln with an enviro vent is vented
out thru a flue the mason put in for a wood stove. I've been using this for
l5 years and it works like a charm. A flexible dryer vent hose connected to
the envirovent and the other end stuck into the flue. I made sure the pipe
was sealed off so the fumes can't fall back into the room

Hi, I'm a most times lurker and sometimes poster with a question on my new
Skutt which I hope that some of you will have experience or opinions on.

I bought my Skutt in the early Spring, but didn't get it wired as my
husband and I realized that we were going to be able to purchase a new home
in the summer. Now it is summer and we have chosen our home so I'm
thinking about moving the kiln and getting it wired in.

The question I have is where. I had thought to put it in the garage and
vent it out and up over the roof line. Today, however, I noticed that in
the basement there is an extra hole in the chimney which the builder put
there for a wood stove if the basement were ever to be finished. The
builder thinks that it would be fine to vent the kiln out the chimney this
way. Do any of you have experience with this set up? It seems like a
wonderful solution to me. (maybe even too good to be true!) Having the
kiln just on the other side of the basement from my wheel etc. would keep
everything in one area as opposed to scattered through out the house.

Your thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Linda

Hi Linda,
It is quite common to vent out the chimney. Go for it.
