This discussion about standards prompted me to look no closer than the wall
in front of my wheel, where I have a home made poster. I do not know from
whence the message originated, but it has more than once brought out the
hammer.

THINK ABOUT, STRIVE FOR, LOOK FOR:

Visual Balance
Surface design - does it enhance or detract?
Foot, rims, lips
Where does the form lead your eye?
How does the pot feel?
Is the weight balanced?
Does it feel as heavy or as light as it looks?

Perhaps I should hammer more pots.

By my wheel, I have photos of a Korean Yi tea bowl and a blue Shino
round dish, that has squared corners. These are standards for me.
