correct voltage for kilns (was rewiring a kiln)

Diane has a 240 volt kiln. The studio is wired for 208
volt.

I would suggest the booster (described in her letter
below) instead of rewiring the kiln. This is because
240 volt is far more common, especially in homes. 208
is used in some shopping centers and schools.

Changing a 240 volt electronic kiln to 208 requires
changing the elements, and on some brands, also the
relays and transformer.

Just a reminder: when ordering a kiln, be sure about
voltage. 240 and 208 outlets look the same. If you are
not sure, ask an electrician or your power company.
