Hi folks,

Planning is proceeding apace for an Empty Bowls event to be held
in Charlotte, NC next year during the NCECA conference (not
sponsored by NCECA, just "in conjunction with"). This will be a
unique event, in that the bowls will be gathered from potters all over
the region, as well as potters coming to NCECA. The event will
include an exhibit of selected bowls during the NCECA week, and
a sale/luncheon on Friday. Proceeds will go to the Second Harvest
Food Bank in the Charlotte area, which is co-sponsoring the event.

Many of you have expressed excitement about being part of this
project, and I will be in touch as we get the details ironed out.

Right now, I just wanted to let all of you know that it is really going
to happen, and to encourage you to make a bowl and set it aside
for this. Also, encourage your students, classmates, fellow-
summer-workshop-goers, and every other potter you meet to
consider participating! Go ahead and collect bowls if you get the
opportunity -- we'll figure out how to get them all to NCECA!

Bowls of all shapes, sizes, persuasions, and degrees of
"bowlness" are welcome! For the teachers out there, kids' and
learners' bowls are welcome too!

For more information and details about how to participate, please
