pots in clay times

Gosh, this seems a little weird posting this, but for those of you that
get Clay Times, I've got some pots in there in the July/August issue. I
guess when I said I'd try to not be a lurker on Clayart anymore, it
leaked out into other parts of my life too.

Way to go Connie! The Teapot, Cream and Sugar are wonderful! OK I'll say
what I thought when I saw them..."CUTE!!!"

Well Joyce, I wasn't all that brave, I've been shaking in my shoes for 2
months about this - had a very bad case of blender head. The editor of
Clay Times saw my pots during NCECA and asked for an article, and there
were so many good pots to see by so many good potters, I feel very, very
fortunate to have this happen.

And to everyone who has sent messages about the article, thanks so much
for the nice responses, my anxiety level has gone down considerably. Oh,
and by the way, Saturday will be my last day with the dogs (the bunny
died - old age).

Congradulations Connie!!! When I manage my self in to
the studio and away from the computer, I am going to
look .. I remember a lot of pictures, and they all
looked good, but I didn't place names. I have read it,
but I was a little too excited for Ramone (page 10)
and BTY, he is way more energetic and loose then the
article portrays.. And I am way envious of his vessels
(to big to call pots) and I could watch him throw the
25 pounds of clay over and over and over again...
Simply amasing...

I will tell you my two cents on yours when I find my
self back at the computer again.. : )

Now I can look with a calmed mind.. : )
(anyone that knows me knows calmed mind is a joke...
My mind is never calm.. Hahahaha)

Connie-I'm glad you told us that was you.
Your pots look as though they might be "up to something" at night when every
one is asleep :^)
They are definitely dynamic!

I enjoyed them before I knew they were yours and it made me smile more to
think they are by some one I "know".

Connie,
What a great article!!! You are living your dream.
I feel honored to have been one of your students!
I miss your quiet strength, competence and aesthetics.
Anyone in the Denver/Boulder area I highly recommend
the Arvada Center.

Connie,

When I saw your "MARK" of the side of the pot in CLAY TIMES I quickly ran off
to the cupboard and pulled out one of the two mugs my wife and I use pretty
regularly. Sure enough, it was the same Connie Christensen! Great job.
Interesting article. FOLLOW YOUR DREAMS.

I got the mugs at Show of Hands, Denver during NCECA. I love the glaze, color
and tactile sense.

If you haven't seen Connie's woodfired shino pots in Clay Times, be sure
to do so. I loved her pots at the Arvada Art Center in Denver during
NCECA when this new good friend gave me a tour of the clay workrooms. I
enjoyed a lot about them, but mostly that they made me smile ... in
addition to appreciating their artistry and craftsmanship. And, Connie,
I really liked the article! When you described your pots, your words
reminded me very much of you, yourself. Brave of you. Hate to say "I
told you so," but I did tell you that you could do it ... didn't have to
talk with you more than 15 minutes to see that possibility ... just
didn't expect it so soon. Keep it up.

Just to say I am in the middle of packing, had only glanced at my copy of
Clay Times, dug it out of a pile I am packing separately to be read once I
am settled and I loved Connie's pots. I look forward to reading the article
later. If you don't have your copy, beg, borrow, or buy one. Beatiful pots,
beautiful peaceful glazes, and I really need peaceful and calming just now.
Packing and moving after the age of fifty is not advisable, and I am well
well beyond that.

Congratulations Connie!! I know how you feel. My work was shown in an open
kiln in this Ceramics Monthly no name and I still almost burst with pride.
