Hi, does anyone know if ITC 100 is similar to a product called Kaowool
Rigidizer manufactured by Thermal Ceramics in Augusta Georgia? They both
can be sprayed, dipped, brushed. I need to make repairs in an electric kiln
and have access to Kaowool Rigidizer; was wondering if it would work the
same. I have never used either. Thanks - Teresa

Teresa,
Isn't the rigidizer simply sodium silicate? I have no idea what that
material would do for kiln repairs, but sodium silicate, when soaked into
kaowool, does make it rigid.

Hello Teresa!
I bought rigidaiser from my supplier. They said it is good to spray the
alumina blanket to evoide breading it while rakuing. They said it was kind
of "Liquid Alumina".

Teresa,

I've used sodium silicate to do repairs. I sort of brushed it on the areas
to be patched. I would not recommend putting it on the hot face as it can
melt and makes a gooey mess. That was what I personally experienced (I fire
to ^10)
When it is cold, it is rigid. You might want to do a small test area first
