one more question re river rock glaze

Is the goal to have chunks of one kind of clay floating in another so =
that the result is spotches? If so, could you mix up the clay you want =
chunky into something non water soluble like wax, chunk that, and add it =
to the base glaze? Does it have to be fritted? Would this be useful for =
low-fire glazes as well?

I've seen this done...but they used just dried glaze that had been broken up
after setting in the bucket for a period of time. They suspended this in the
wet glaze that the base glaze they put on the fired. The idea I think is to
just get a chuck of glaze of a different type to stick on the piece. Be
forwarned..this can be a runny situation in some cases. I'd suggest putting
something under the piece. Good luck and say goodbye to all those dried
buckets of glaze :)
