Hi MIlton,
I forgot to put a subject on my first reply, so here goes again...
I am envious of your chance to see the LA collection. I've heard of it,
but I live in Florida!
I'm not sure of the exact temperature that this stuff was fired to, but
most of it was glazed with a lead glaze (some was alkaline based)
requiring that it be fired to relatively low temperatures. The lustre,
by the way, was fired at a lower temperature in a second or third firing
- tricky enough nowadays but especially challenging in a wood kiln where
they couldn't reduce the lead, but needed a slightly reduced atmosphere
for the lustre.
Cheers, Wynne
