Hello -
I'm sure this topic has come up and been put to rest many times. I've just
bought someone's studio equipment: an old 181-18(?) Skutt kiln with kiln
sitter, and extra wheel and all of this woman's chemicals, scales and tools.
So, I'm now ready to try my hand at first a bisque firing and then a glaze
firing. Who can recommend informational resources(books or other) for
learning the basics about loading *and* firing cycles? Are there some
classics texts that contain time honored method for the tasks? I'm looking
for similar resources for getting started with glazes. I've made a few
batches in some college courses a while back, but had no knowledge of why I
was putting certain chemicals and not others. I'd love to find a book that
goes over the fundamentals of glaze recipe creation.
Thanks!
Richard
