Just gotta say.........
Having had the opportunity to work with mel at the Alabama Clay Conferenc=
e
last March...... I would strongly recommend anyone that has ANY
possibility of going to ANY workshop he hosts to take advantage of the
GREAT opportunity. Don't just go to one of these two events mentioned
above...... do both if you can. Mel has a wealth of knowledge, is a
consumate professional, makes great pots, and happens to have a wonderful=
ly
entertaining delivery (unlike his typical CLAYART uptight stuffy persona
). It'd take you a lifetime to absorb all he has to offer. =
You'll be glad you went.
Best,

Hi Clayarters,
A few years ago Lori Leary invited Mel to do a one day presentation at the
university she was attending, and I went. I knew that Mel is entertaining
with great stories, and I expected that he had a lot to teach.
I found that not only was he an entertaining presenter, his stories directly
related to his presentation, and he has a TON to teach, for both beginners
AND advanced potters.
He has a down to earth perspective for production potters, one that should
result in being able to focus on running business with a profit motive,
always a good idea for any business. His suggestions are practical and
easily implemented. Many of his thoughts and ideas are included in his book,
but I've always found that it helps me to learn and remember when I have
multiple modes of input. Some things are better understood by hearing and
seeing, others by reading, some by both! So don't assume that just because
you've read the book, read Mel's clayart emails that you won't learn enough.
The cost of this presentation is a bargain of the best sort! My advice would
be to do whatever you can to attend this event. I know that everyone who
attended Mel's presentation in Wilkes Barre, PA walked away satisfied that
they'd spent a worthwhile day. I certainly did.
